Domain Architect-Reprsentative (Contract to Hire)
Job Description
Domain-specific representatives are responsible for realizing the architectural deliverables and managing the evolution of assets for their defined domain. This role works closely with the Enterprise and Portfolio Architects in defining the broad roadmaps and change agendas, providing domain-specific expertise as requested. In addition, the domain representative ensures that enterprise and portfolio directions, principles, strategies, and roadmaps are reflected in the architecture, standards and plans for the domain area. This is a delivery role, having primary accountability for translating the enterprise and portfolio architectures into the tactical approaches, domain models and solution sets consistent with the vision.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage the design, implementation, and evolution of information technology assets within the defined domain, creating and maintaining architectural deliverables where needed.
- Understand the current technology environment within the domain focus area and assist in planning cost-effective and opportunistic evolution of the supporting technology.
- Bring organization to the domain by creating detailed standards and tools, ensuring that they are accessible, easy to navigate, and understandable for projects that need them. Act as they primary resource to individuals and groups who wish to understand the domain.
- Assist in defining relevant metrics and SLA?s (Service Level Agreements) for the domain focus area, striving for continuous improvement.
- Assist in measuring and reporting on compliance to enterprise standards and governance.
- Participate in the governance of the domain by leadership of, or participation in, architectural councils or commissioned working groups.
- Perform project consulting within portfolio and domain areas.
- Participate in technology selection involving domain areas.
- Participate in proof-of-concept projects evaluating domain area requirements.
- Collaborate with developers and engineers to develop solutions specifications, testing requirements, deployment processes, and measurement processes.
- For application/middleware deployment platform domains (such as J2EE, .NET, ETL, message-oriented middleware and ESB?s), work directly with developers and engineers to mentor, guide, and evaluate them on reusability techniques, best practices, and desired or required patterns for the domain platform and toolset.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop business performance specifications, testing requirements, deployment scenarios, and measurement processes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of IT experience, preferably 10, with five or more years direct experience in the domain area.
- Demonstrated experience acting as a Data, Technical or Business Architect. Prefer experience collaborating with Enterprise Architecture.
- Demonstrated experience presenting architecture concepts and project goals to managers and IT leaders.
- Experience with integration or multiple systems, preferably within a SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) approach.
- Direct experience evaluating and selecting technologies within the domain area.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with system development life-cycles and project management principals.
- Strong problem solving skills.
- Must be able to work at both conceptual and detail levels.
- Strong interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
- Ability to translate tactical approaches into a series of manageable initiatives. Must be comfortable leading and playing an active role in completing tasks that comprise these initiatives.
- Strong program analysis, design and coding skills.
- Fluent understanding of the technical domain, and its role in support of overall portfolio.
- Fluent PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management) subject matter expertise and ability to work with stakeholders to drive uniformity, standards and models that support the evolving needs of the business.
