Senior Systems Developer (Direct Hire)

Job Description
This position provides very high degree of technical knowledge depth to application systems development, technical consultative advice and instruction to departmental and non-departmental personnel. Designs, develops, tests, and documents complex application business solutions. Investigates, identifies, and resolves complex application systems issues or changes.

  • Research and recommend changes where technology can be better used within the overall systems environment to improve efficiency, lower costs, and enhance the quality of business applications.
  • Assist management in making strategic decisions regarding software and hardware use. Participate in the early stages of large project development to ensure consistent approaches in the technical design across projects/programs.
  • Develop and apply theories and methods to solve complex technical problems. Code or modify, test, and debug programs of difficult complexity. Install software into production environment following change control methodology.
  • Consult with system analysts to prepare detailed technical descriptions of user needs, system design, program functions, and steps required to modify or build application systems. Review specifications with business user to ensure compliance with requirements and delivery expectations.
  • Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware, operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
  • Code or modify, test, and debug programs of difficult complexity. Install software into production environment following change control methodology.
  • Train system analysts and assist technical support staff on use of application systems software as needed. Assist less experienced staff in, coding, testing, and debugging.
  • Maintain regular written communication on project status with Team lead and IS management.
  • Troubleshoot production problems within assigned software applications.
  • Represent IS department on interdepartmental development teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 10 years extensive technical experience in a variety of IT areas, including: 5+year systems analysis AND 5 years application development in complex applications
  • Expert understanding of computer software, hardware, and database concepts and issues.
  • Strong experience with Synon/Cool2E
  • Solid technical writing of technical documents as well as proposals.
  • Established presenter of technical and non-technical material.
  • Excellent communicator striving for ?Win-Win? scenarios.
  • Proficient in MS Office product suite including MS-Project
  • Strong problem solving and business analysis skills.
