Senior Software Test Engineer (Permanent)

Job Description
Our client, headquartered in Eden Prairie, MN develops a comprehensive suite of software applications designed to dramatically increase industrial plants' availability and performance by managing their production assets. They have an immediate direct hire opportunity for a Software Test Engineer. The job description and qualifications follow.

The primary objective of this position is to participate in the Verification and Validation testing of a Windows XP and CE-based Client/Server suite of customer software applications.

The targets and tools are as follows:

TEST TARGETS:

  • MS C++, COM, on Windows XP or Vista
  • Windows CE, C#.net, VB.net
  • Windows 2008 Server, Windows 2003 Server

TEST TOOLS

  • SharePoint
  • VM Ware
  • SourceSafe
  • ClearQuest
  • Norton Ghost
  • SQL Server Management Studio
  • TestComplete

This individual will be responsible for the execution of test plans and procedures, including automated test.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participate in test planning and tracking activities for the project.
  • Participate in review of product specifications, high level design of test suites and creation of test artifacts including test design specifications, test procedures and automated test scripts.
  • Execute test procedures and automated scripts, running ad-hoc tests and identifying, analyzing and verifying discrepancies.
  • Proactively learn new technical or product areas as required to effectively execute project tasks.
  • Identify risk in assigned and unassigned product areas and prioritize tasks to focus effort on those areas that present the greatest risk.
  • Proactively communicate with software developers in assigned technical areas to define and clarify functional requirements, design and implementation details, analyze risk, analyze discrepancies, etc.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science or Technical Field.
  • 4 years experience in software test.
  • Experience with Windows XP and CE
  • Experience with most or all of the following: C++, COM, C#, VB .NET, some VB Script, SharePoint, VM Ware, SourceSafe, ClearQuest and TestComplete.
  • Experience in a lead role.
